Martha Marcy May Marlene is an American thriller film which premiered at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival in January 2011 where it was awarded the Best Director prize. The film is also scheduled to be screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the upcoming 2011 Cannes Film Festival. It deals with a damaged woman, haunted by painful memories and increasing paranoia, who struggles to re-assimilate with her family after fleeing an abusive cult.
